Colin Mackenzie BSc.(Hons) Dip.Arch. RIBA has joined the Cabrach Trust as a Trustee. Colin is a Chartered Architect with over 30 years of experience working in the UK and abroad. In 2010 he retired from his position as a Director of an award winning architectural practice in Buckinghamshire (David Coles architects ltd) to undertake his own development project back in North-East Scotland, close to his family’s roots.
His great-great-grandfather Alexander Mackenzie (crofter of Easter Claggan, Glenlivet) was a noted illicit distiller and whisky smuggler in the early 1800’s. Colin’s great-grandfather (Alexander’s son Peter) was manager of The Glenlivet distillery from 1901 until his death, in office, in 1929. As a result Colin has a direct connection with, and deep interest in, the making of Scotch whisky and in particular its early turbulent history.
As an architect Colin has used his expertise to research historic buildings and sites in order to inform the design proposals and/or to meet project planning conditions. Colin will be a great addition to the Cabrach Trust and we welcome him on board this exciting project.
