In the New Year working with the Highlands Small Communities Housing Trust, the Cabrach Trust will carry out a feasibility study into rural housing in the Cabrach.
An application to the Rural Housing fund at the Scottish Government for £10,000 was submitted in October this year. This application has been granted and we are now looking forward to carrying out a funded feasibility study.
We have appointed the Highlands Small Communities Housing Trust to carry out this study. Their work will take around four months. This study will produce a housing needs analysis, a market analysis, a master plan with architectural drawings and a business case.
We believe that there is a high demand for housing in the Cabrach to enable families and people to move to the area from across the North East of Scotland. Many people with family ties to the area have expressed a desire to move back to the Cabrach with the wonderful outdoors spaces being one of the main draws.
Key elements covered in the study are:
- Explore the potential to build a number of homes on the Inverharroch site in the Lower Cabrach.
- Assess the financial viability and sustainability of any proposed projects.
- Identify the best site for this accommodation.
- Building plans and designs will be drawn and costed.
Gathering your views and will be an essential part of this study and we will be looking for your input during the course of this exercise.
