We are building a new Heritage Centre through sensitive conversion of the Inverharroch farm steading (barn). The design from award-winning architects will complement the landscape and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere designed to be accessible and family friendly. It will feature interactive displays, accessible grounds, imaginative play areas and sheltered outdoor spaces.

Our Heritage Centre will tell the story of The Cabrach, from its earliest inhabitants through to the devastating impact of twentieth century conflicts. The Heritage Centre will be a venue for exhibitions, live performances, educational programmes and events.

A programme of events will unlock the secrets of the area, from Jacobite rebels to the illicit whisky ‘bothies’ which housed illegal stills and made some of the finest whisky in Scotland.

A key attraction within the Heritage Centre will be a small-scale distillery modelled on the type of distillery which would have existed in the area in the 1820’s.

The new exhibition space will also provide a platform to present and preserve Doric, the distinctive dialect of North East Scotland.

We will help visitors explore the landscape and wildlife of The Cabrach, by day and night. The Cabrach has designated ‘Dark Sky’ status due to the lack of light pollution, meaning it is one of the best places in the UK to stargaze.

This project is being part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Moray LEADER 2014 – 2020 Programme.
